The DLC for a familiar just came out on the store. Downloaded it but havent used it yet. Seems quite powerful when fully evolved.

My guide shipped, and earlier than expected, maybe giving them a call actually helped after all.

The guide is worth it. Ive been using it a good amount. I found a particularly rare poke..familiar on the top of the desert mesa's that you can acess later on. The Dinoceros. Cop that Dino son im tellin yous.
Also, this game just keeps getting progressively better.

Mine has yet to ship. Actually put playing the game on Hiatus til the guide arrives. Don't want to miss anything.

other than finding rare familiars is the guide helpful in any other way. do you think your play through of kuni could still be (for lack of a better word) successful without it?

Sure ofcourse. The internets is big enough. But its nice having everything in one book you can flip through for familiars, quest details, boss strategies, recipe mixtures and item locals. Its a bigger game then first apears to be. Im going to platinum it so ya.. I think that will take my play time up to 120hrs eventualy.

Anyway I am convinced when developing Ni no Kuni Level 5 was thinking of Dragon Quest VIII. Side kick in a deep accent with odd pronunciations and a friendly insult. The Alchemy Pot look almost identical. Cel shaded visuals.Musical style is similar. Have skill points. Heavy on the brit VA. Lot's of other stuff.

Enjoying it. Making me want to import that Wii collection

^Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud II) is another Level 5 game in that cel shaded style. Got to admit, DQVIII is the only Dragon Quest I am interested in playing aside from DQIX.

I'll still maintain that Rogue Galaxy sucked, though. Didn't like that game at all, unfortunately.

Do yourself a favor and at least add DQV to that list.

Just for the record Rogue Galaxy was an amazing game. One of Level 5s most original titles. On a side note, maybe no cel-shading might be why I have shy'd away from White Knight Chronicles, despite hearing mixed reviews on it, heard some people say they love it, and some people say its lacking. I guess when I think of Level 5 I think of DQVIII, and RG so I am like "why arent they taking advantage of their best in the biz, cel-shading skills? meh".
