How Do You Make Your Millions in Shenmue 2?

Hey guys,

Out of curiosity, which methods do you use to generate cash flow in Shenmue 2?

Crate moving? Lucky Hit? Pawnshops? Gambling? Hacking?

My methods are usually the following:

At the start of Shenmue 2, I spend all of my money on stuff in Worker's Pier (lighters and such), before I hit the Wong Scene. If I choose to glitch the game, I usually spend some of it in Wan Chai before I trigger the scene.

When I'm broke, I tend to make around 60 - 100 dollars moving crates with Delin. I then go to the gambling house, or G House as I call it, that has the 100 minimum bet. I walk up to the G dude and zoom and out real quick to get the game menu before it switches to the conversation menu and save the game.

I then bet on Big or Small, and if I lose, I hold Start and Back to go back to the main menu to reload my save and try again.

With this method, I generate about 1000HK in 25 mins.

I also sometimes hack my saves (DC, Xbox, and 360) to have 9999999HK. This method also works on 360 OFW.

I also never touch Lucky Hit.

I just buy the Zippo's at the beginning and sell them on to the best paying pawnshop in the Wise Men's Qr.

I do make sure that I don't have $500+ already available to 'donate' to Ren, which means I can still leave Beverly Hills Wharf and learn the Brawling Uppercut move from Delin. Speaking of Delin, I rarely do the crate lifting job with him with the intention of just supplementing my cash flow. I find it a bit tedious (especially compared to forklift's!), and Aberdeen is a bit out of the way.

Before I give the $500 to Ren, I sometimes also do the Big or Small save trick. Easily doubles up the money ready for the street fights in Kowloon.

And if I do need any extra cash for Kowloon, I just face the Acrobat as he's the easiest opponent, in my opinion.

Other than that, I also just like to play the different games from time to time to earn money and just take my time doing it.

I learn that uppercut move from the guy at the harbour then use it to win the street fighting challenge where you need to make the guy hurt in beverly hills warth until i have the 500$ needed

then at the end of the game I just use the money earned from the street fights to buy capsule toys and scrolls and shit since there isn't really any need for money any more and the game just gave you loads

I do it differently each time I play.

If I'm in Hardcore mode, I do try not to do the soft reset trick.

Sorry I think I meant 1/500. Perfect is all 3 balls go in. Risky but if you have the patience it can pay off.

I usually do street fights to earn money. And that 1/500 Lucky Hit is addicting, it's only a dollar I cant stop playing it.

I don't invest in lighters/capsules at the beginning, I find the task of selling them tedious and a waste of time (hint for Shenmue HD/3: make the very few occasions you have to interact/buy things/gamble repeatedly a little faster).

I always try to get $100 quick by playing Roll it on Top somewhere, then I go to the Warehouse in Fortune's Pier with the highest payout. I used to bet "Chow" and soft reset till I won, and it wouldn't take me too long, but I never had that luck on recent playthroughs. So i'd just bet Big or Small and soft reset until I get $1000, so I don't have to worry about making more money in Kowloon.

I usually automatically trigger the scene where Ren takes your $500 by already having it, so I keep navigating in and out of the Wharf to a minimum. I really should take my time next play, and get the Brawling Uppercut and the very funny scene where Delin falls in the water.

Shenmue has some awesome secrets, but how in the hell did anyone find them without using a guide or the internet? They are so obscure! Many who found Shenmue dull on the surface really have no idea that you can stalk a 16 year old and buy her a birthday gift, find Wang's twin brother in a creepy apartment building in another land, or train a duck to race against a penguin after you whoop the cute girl from Tomato Convenience Store's butt. Not to mention all the nifty little scenes in the first game.
