Companies like Activision, Square-Enix, Epic, and Capcom aren't completely rosy. And Sony itself isn't in a great position. Do you think they'd risk going out of business on a product that to start with is going to be losing them money?
Also yes you can blame a company for it, because its a bad practice. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's ethical. On top of that, if the individual has the right to be a moron and buy a 100$ car in need for speed everyone else has the right to not spend their money on something they find stupid.
if one fool buys something stupid it doesn't matter if no one else does because they made money Square-Enix is a prime example of coasting on bad decisions.
