[ RPGMAKER ] - Shenmue 1 RPG project

Postby stanx974 » Thu Feb 28, 2013 10:13 am

Hi all,

I want to start a little big project : Shenmue rpg with multiplayer option

- 2D game I think
- based on SHENMUE 1 story
- sames interaction
- based on RPGMAKER XP script
- original 3d cinematic movies in the game

- I need some texture/musique/sprites. Did you know how to get them?
- I would try to scripting QTE in 2D

I would tell us about the project progress.

You are the 432164283746283476th person who try this idea. They have all finished in nothing.

I have some sprites of Shenmue but they are not mine. I only made little changes in the design.

I like your comment with 456489764 person and I know that but I'm motivated.

did you want to share sprite with me? to inspire me (if you want it doesn't matter)

Think they are not mine.

Anyway, even if you are motivated it's very complicated to make a full game by yourself (and) alone. I suggest you to find a team because even if you know how RPG Maker works you need a lot of time to finish one game.

Yeah, i made a shenmue 3 rpg. The most difficult thing for me was creating sprites. That took me weeks. When I was fimally able to put all my designs together, everything was a lot easier. i had a story and gameplay for like 2 hours. Then my computer had that damn virus and all my stuff was deleted. No backup. that was a terrible moment. so much work for nothing.

My advice: backup your data :D

I doubt you can use the original game textures for an 2D game. It's kinda different.
Pic some chipsets for the rtp and make the maps by yourself. You can make great things using imagination.

I think I would use generic sprites and work on text/story/gameplay et redo graphics at the end.
I 'm going to do a demo soon I hope.

Shoes are wrong. Modified a pre-existing sprite, I presume? Look, I and many others have been down this road before, so let me tell you right now that it isn't going to happen. At least not in the way you're thinking/hoping it will. PM me with your ideas and I'll point out all the flaws, then tell you exactly how to do it "right."
