I think it's seriously only a matter of time until we can travel across space just as easily as car.

Everybody always talks about how you can't travel at the speed of light, well there was a point in time where scientist thought the world was flat and the sun orbited us.

Do I think it will happen in my lifetime? No. I think by the end of my lifetime we might be able to take vacations to the moon, maybe.

I think this is easily the worst period to be alive in. You were born too late to explore the world, and you were born too early to explore the galaxy. It sucks.

We have transporters and replicators as well. Just that the work to get them at the levels we think is a long long long ways off esp when we still use silicon in our technology.

Maybe you can't travel at the speed of light. I do it all the time.

EDIT:Honestly though, I'm grateful to live in this time period. Conditions for human life (for the most part) just keep getting better and better. The idea of exploration is very romantic but I would not want to be alive in a time when I could explore the Earth yet die at forty. We do live in an exciting time though, information out the wazoo, however, given how little we've accomplished in science since the sixties it does leave me a little less optimistic for what could be accomplished within my life time. I've got (hopefully) another 50-70 years to find out though.

EDIT2: Also, if I learned anything from Shenmue, it's that I know shit about this world. There's so much to experience down here on Earth that I couldn't even possibly do everything in my lifetime. If you want to explore then do it, just do it with better healthcare.

Actually they are. It's based on the same tech. Right now they can get taste but not texture right. Said it might be another 15 years
