I was born in England, my passport says I'm British, and the front cover says The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. So is the UK a country? Is Great Britain a country? Is Britain a country? Is England a country? We need to make up our collective minds and stick to it.
Great Britain is an island. The United Kingdom is Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain comprises of England, Scotland and Wales. It's pretty easy.
I know the geography of it, thanks. My point is, if I had to say which
country I'm in right now, there doesn't seem to be any consensus on whether it's England, Britain or the UK. It can't be all of them, yet different occasions use different classifications - in sports for example there's an English football team in the World Cup but it's Team GB at the Olympics.
