Japanese Sega Saturn reccomendations

Postby Bluecast » Thu Apr 04, 2013 4:16 am

It seems many Japanese counterparts to the US releases are cheaper. Plus I know ther is many games that never made it over. I have a US Saturn but when I get the action replay CGR said you can play Imports. Only Japanese import I have is Grandia. I love the SEGA arcade games, plat formers, fighters,RPG's,beat em ups stuff like that. Or if you feel something outside those lines but is a blast to play then by all means suggest away. Also be nice if you go a bit into detail. Thanks!Image

Well if you're feeling a little orange you could always pick up Assault Suit Leynos 2. Similar to run-and-gun mech game on the SNES, Cybernator (aka Assault Suit Valken).

Also, sticking with the theme of mechs, there's also Bulk Slash which is a mech game more in the style of virtual-on.

There's also a ton of retro Sega games under the Sega Ages label.

However, the main reason that people pick a Japanese Saturn is for the Shmup library. It's pretty great.

Burning rangers is pretty cheap for a Japanese copy. Do I need to understand the game to play it?

Yeah, man. But that's one that did have an US release. In the beginning there is a tutorial for the controls in an in-game way. So it's basic to understand them. And, there are also instructions during the game to rescue people. Hope to be helpful.

But, maybe, there's some tutorial in text form. You know, like other have. But it would be amazing to play it as it is.
