Seems to me like the internet keeps getting weirder and weirder. People are trying TOO hard to get noticed by uploading random videos, pictures and the like. Take this video for example...

Yesterday that video got a shit tonne of views from people sharing it on Facebook, 5 years or so ago something like that may have shocked me as the internet was a place to see things that I couldn't in real life (like boobs, roflcopter).

I'm sure most of us here have seen a snuff video or something equally grotesque on the internet. Most of us were probably brought up using the internet, in our late childhood early teens. We saw things that back then would have been insane to us, yet today I think people are trying just a bit too hard to get views on YouTube.

I don't think anything can shock us any more, bout you guys?

Despite all of the good it can be used for, I kind of miss the days of pre-net. Some things are so easily attainable now it ruins the hype. Shock value through imagery and such? For the most part desensitized, kind of sucks.

If there is one thing that I miss about the net back in the 90's it's that the average intelligence of people back then seemed a lot higher than it is now, mostly techies. These days any idiot has access.

It's simply Information overload due to the "internet age". There's only just so much you can watch/see before you just become apathetic to it all. Unless you want to watch Salo or something, be my guest. [That movie is pure evil]. Or hang out in a really run down country where disturbing things happen frequently.

I quickly stopped looking at shit like that though. I do sometimes give in to morbid curiosity, but usually pretty happy to just not watch shocking stuff. So I probably could be, but when it comes to forums and shocking comments anyway, we've probably seen it all.
