The worst thing is when a no-name website posts a rumor/false claim and then the big sites report on that report, eg: "Shenmue 3 is due next month on Dreamcast 2, according to a report by Gameblog4u," and then dim people who only read the headlines (which omit any such disclaimers) get more excited because they think they've now had it confirmed by a big site.

There is still hope. Dragon's Crown was supposed to be for Dreamcast and a follow up to the Saturn game Princess Crown and the Arcade game Dungeons & Dragons in the arcades. Sure it's not a direct sequel with a continued storyline but technically in development in 1998 with publishers passing on it or didn't have the money or in ignitions case left the industry. So 15 years of troubled development and this was George Kamitani's baby as much as Shenmue is Yu's plus this was Georges most expensive game he ever made. So there is hope as hopeless situations can have a good turnout, Sure maybe that game is the exception but does not rule out the possibility of Shenmue III even if very very small.

I got less and less hopeful over the years. Not saying it's impoossible but at least very unlikely. I think even the trolls have given up. Ages since i last read someone being like "OMG, I WORK AT SEGA AND PLAYED SHENMUE 3!".

I don't even think about Shenmue anymore, to be honest. I still love the series and it's my favorite of all time, but I've pretty much accepted the fact Shenmue III won't be around a for a long, long time.

I believe Shenmue would not happen with the current administration. When administration change then there is a possibility of a Shenmue 3.
I really love Shenmue and talking about that game I could never talk so passionate about game like that.
I am glad about the shenmue500k facebook group really to know there are still people so passionate still about shenmue makes me proud to be a shenmue fan. We shenmue fans really do not give up. Even if there would not be shenmue III atleast we show Sega we never give up hope and that our passion for Shenmue will burn passionately through the years!!!

I said before that the later it gets, the worse the chances are. If it isn't released right about now, it won't happen. Wishful thinking is becoming little more than childish at this point for the Shenmue series. It was good to hear that the Dreamcast is actually still releasing games, albeit mostly shooters, but those are just isolated efforts of their own. The only hope I had was that Indie developers would ban together and fight to produce a spin-off or continuation themselves with the permission of the assinine company that refuses to . But now, that seems to be squashed. I will be stunned if it gets released years from now, but I absolutely have no faith in that happening.
