Me too, and that's what fans have been asking for since 2001. *looks at watch*

Agreed, Shenmue III would be far safer under the watchful eye of Sega's expert management, ensuring it becomes an accomplished masterpiece befitting the franchise. Just like Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Yes they may be cashing in, but at least they are doing something more constructive with Shenmue than Suzuki is at this moment. That is what I was saying, that Sega are achieving slightly more with Shenmue than Suzuki is

Sega haven't actually done anything though. You can thank Insert Coin for the clothes, you can thank First 4 Statues for the statue, and you can thank Sumo Digital for putting Ryo in that racing game. Sega didn't initiate any of these things, all they did was take a slice of the revenue. I'm sure Yu Suzuki would have been happy to make money off of the IP in similar ways if he owned it.

Damn you Sweaty! Stop outwitting my perfectly constructed arguments with such ease, that's not supposed to happen!

And damn you too Mue! I shall not be turning up to that pint we once said we'd all get once S3 is announced. :-({|= :-({|=

Sega is no longer the game company I grew up playing so maybe their ips would be better in someone else's hands specially if that meant shenmue III being finished and released.

I think Sega should let the series go.

Yu Suzuki's studio should make it, despite that being very hard to accomplish.

I agree on letting Shenmue go. If they really don't want to make anything serious with the IP, may it be releasing HD ports, remakes or Shenmue III then they should just give Yu Suzuki the license.

However I still rather want to see Shenmue III made under the Sega brand. I said this in some other thread already. Shenmue has just too many Sega related stuff in it that would have to go if Shenmue would continue without Sega.
Also, even though Sega is now nothing like it was during the early 90's they still have Sonic wich I'm still a fan of aswell as some other series I like that get some kind of release occasionally. Sega should not die by any means.

Re-releases aside, the locations touted for Shenmue III don't seem the most likely places to find arcades and capsule toy machines, so any continued Sega references in the series would probably have to be shoehorned in anyway.

Yeah I am aware that the locations in future installments of the series might not be the best places to have arcades and toy capsules but maybe Ryo actually does visit one or more towns that have them.

Shenmue III might get rather different gameplay with less emphasis on staying in a town and doing various tasks but moving around a lot with just short rests. Still makes me wonder why they put so much emphasis on a realistic town with arcades and stuff in Shenmue and Shenmue II if they might abandon this type of world in the sequels.

Maybe they didn't want such a (would-be) long-running saga to start feeling samey. There's plenty of room for variety when you know from the start you've got multiple games to spread your story across. 11-16 chapters in the same vein as Shenmue 1 would lose their novelty eventually.

You would have an easier time convincing Capcom to bring Megaman back than Sega bringing back Shenmue. I'd rather crawl before I walk again. Before getting back into Shenmue's revival, I hope that Sega at least brings Yakuza 5 to the US.
