So I was up late the other night for no reason whatsoever, and DOA was on tv. Like, y'know, the one based on the games.
That had to have been one of the worst goddamn movies I've ever seen. Seriously, just truly horrible in practically all ways possible.
And yet, I still found it just watchable enough, thanks solely to the presence of Holly Valance.

As an obsessive Idol fan I am all for yaeba. Just not fake ones. Not exactly perfect, but natural teeth can be a cute "charm point" as they say.

I have no clue the extent of its popularity(fake yaeba that is), but I do think that it got exaggerated when the concept of yaeba (re?)entered the consciousness of the west when some media outlets put out stories about them within the last few years.

Rakim dropping knowledge. Those removable yaeba are jokes, and seem a better option than uncorrective dental surgery. I wonder if Japanese are genetically predisposed to yaeba, or they just place less importance on dentistry over there, as I've seen quite a lot of Japanese with 'yaeba'.

Can having a chipped tooth smile like an old school Nas be a 'charm point' in Japan? If so, mans in luck. And to get the look you don't even need a dentist, just a punch in the face.

Yeah it is precisely the wonkyness which i find attractive. It adds a wonderful character to the face which is only revealed when they smile.

I would make a bad dentist advising people not to get braces. I remember "actress" Amanda Crew used to have wonky teeth, got them straightened and immediately lost all of her charm... Whereas Patricia Arquette is still lovely.


It is a shame that the west has a much more cynical and sterilised sense of beauty.

Likewise, how do you teeth people mention it to women. If you say they have nice teeth and they are wonky they think your taking the piss!!! funny.

Also how would you analyse (or rationalise) the attraction to teeth?

It maybe ventures a sense of natural beauty or even innocence, or genuineness. Even deeper i would say that it probably something to do with the dance of the lips and teeth. Something which cannot really be forced, faked or photographed. something which can only be experienced in person.

On the (loose) subject of anime, I remember being kind of shocked when I saw an interview with Melissa Fahn on the Cowboy Bebop movie DVD and discovered that she's actually pretty damn cute. Wouldn't have expected someone playing a character like Ed to have that sort of appeal.
Made me like the character more though. Tee hee.
