Things you just noticed (recent playthroughs)

Hello Dojo,

this topic is there for us to name things that we just have noticed which we haven't before when playing Shenmue because as you know this game is so detailed that one can not see everything in just one playthrough.
What I have just noticed is for example that the moves' teachers say different things when you perform the techniques without all the instruction given. Something else I noticed is that in the credits Hong Xiu Ying's voice actor is named although Xiu Ying never actually appears in the first part(Or does she ?). Also, I never knew one could even join that motorcyclefanatics gang

Shenmue II: If you missed the first Quick Timer Event when chasing Wong, then you'll have to search for him again. After searching around and asking people about him, he will be again at the spot where he threw you the colourful marbles.
You'll approach him from behind, he will try to get away, you'll stop him, he will bow to the ground asking for mercy and, then he will pass through your legs and get away again. What a marvelous repeatable chase that is. Keep doing it.

Minor things I noticed last night when playing Shenmue 1 was I left the game because I couldn't be bothered to hear about that fucking cat anymore the game just selected which food to give it in which Megumi didn't tell me about Yamagashi-San and then I had to go see sumiya-San and the old lady didn't appear till I did and yagamashi San said "sorry but I'm not well ryo"

And also while asking for the men in black suits mid sentence talking to shinkichi-san he says "wait ryo I'm not finished yet" when talking about nozomi because I pressed the right trigger to run.

No, another contender. When you talk to him, he gets jealous and says "I want him for myself only.", or something like that.

I always try to look for something new when I re-play this game. As I'm sure most everyone on here does as well.

If you get caught by security too many times when trying to sneak into Warehouse No. 8 in the Old Warehouse district (Shenmue 1), you'll get a cutscene with the homeless man giving Ryo a few pointers on how to avoid the guards.

If you get caught a few more times, you'll get another cutscene of him giving Ryo a map of where the Warehouse and best places to hide are.

If you continue to fail, you will trigger the final cutscene with the homeless man walking Ryo to the front door of Warahouse No. 8, thus bypassing the guards altogether.

I have never noticed this truck in front of the Aida Florist shop, while chasing Jimmy... I wonder why they have putted it there... :3

Been a while since I last played Shenmue, but if I remember correctly, isn't that the truck which crosses your way when you chase Jimmy? I seem to recall when you miss one of the last QTEs during the chase that truck will cut you off from Jimmy and he gets away. Can anybody confirm my theory?

I didn't know that you can honk on motorcycle and in second game I didn't know that there's dentist offices in the same building as orphanage, and also in other building ( don't remember which exactly) there's kid who's tell you that, something like, he have a toothache and he is afraid to go to those dentists

In Shenmue II I found another martial arts school in the Moon Child Building if I'm not mistaken. I think it was either adjacent to the orphanage or a floor above or below it. It has shoji screens and low cabinetry lining the walls. There are a few people (children?) practicing in there, but I can't talk to anyone. It also has two entrances. Has anyone seen this?

Do you mean Tiger Gate Kung Fu? That's in the Thousand White Bldg on 6F.
But you say it was near the orphanage and that's a completely different area. Now I'm curious if there's really a second school in Kowloon as I never heard about that one.
