tomorrow is a friend's birthday and I still have no clue what to get him for a birthday present. He turns 30, so it's kind of a special birthday. How do you think of fitting presents for your family and friends? Any idea, method, or whatever that has helped you before? Share your thoughts, let's turn this into a birthday present inspiration thread.

You should have a better idea of your friends interests than we do. Post that question to yourself. I suppose money is always a welcome gift, but don't bother with gift cards. People act like gift cards are more "thoughtful". But really, all you're doing is giving someone something that fills the same purpose as cash, only not as well.

Thank you both for your answer. I'm sorry for not making clear enough what my question was. It wasn't about "What should I get him in particular?", rather than how do you guys think of fitting presents in general. It's a "problem" I have with each birthday and no matter how long in advance I start thinking about a good present, it's always the same painful procedure, haha. So, thanks again.
