What operating system(s) do you use? (Poll)

I didn't see one of these around. If there is one, it's probably older than dirt. Pick as many options as you use. I tried to include what I think are the most used Linux distros on here without cluttering it too much.

Right now I'm only using Arch Linux with xfce on my desktop.

I use OpenBSD because of its stability and security, I've used Arch, Gentoo, Slackware among others before. I switched from Fedora to OpenBSD after the Snowden leaks.

I don't know that I could bring myself to seriously try BSD at this point and give up Steam, etc. I dealt with Linux being a niche OS that barely anyone used (talking desktop use here) for years because I loved it, but now it's finally really coming around with mainstream support. (Thanks valve)

Also, arch is just too good to give up.

In Gentoo, you could use pre-compiled binaries for large packages. I don't think it's worth it to compile every single package. Arch is heavenly though, for a lot of reasons, pacman being one .

Windows 7 here. Easily the best operating system from Microsoft since XP. I've had the terrible misfortune of using Windows 8 when setting up a family member's new laptop (though this was quite some time back), and it pissed me off so much I almost put my fist through the screen .

WINDOWS:
I use a modified copy of windows 7 called 'tiny7' Which is just the base operating system with no features or other unnecessary bollocks that you dont need, just the OS the GUI and a few basic features.

Exactly the same with windows XP, the XP ISO if I remember correctly came to around 200mb.

LINUX:
The OS I primarily use for my PC is Debain 7.7.
If you've used ubunu but not debain its essentially ubuntu but much more stable so it wont fall to pieces and wont end up with broken permissions n all the other typical linux problems you get after fixing your system is X11 breaks usually due to bad ATI drivers.

I do use Ubuntu 10.04 for my thinkpad as it has the necessary GNU C libraries to support its FireGL 5200 card with a dodgy obsolite copy of fglrx that supports* the graphics chip.

I have tried arch but I never got the hang of the different command line syntax (is syntax the right word) so ive stuck with debian based distros

Windows 7. I've used Macs occasionally for work stuff, and definitely prefer Windows to it. Until Windows gives me serious issues, I'm sticking with it.

And I don't like Windows 8 from what I have used, either.

Not planning on using Windows again unless I'm forced to for some reason, but I will say that Windows 10 looks really nice. Glad they're not gonna be shoving metro down your throat with the start screen anymore.

I use Windows 7/8.1 for work and home. Linux on my media server. With 8.1 you can set a few options by right clicking the task bar and it functions just like 7 but with the performance gains of 8 minus the horrible UI lol.
