It's good to have one extra site explain things a bit more. Check the comments though. Many people seem to ignore what has been said about licensing etc. And I can't remember now if it was Boyes or Corsi who said that other big names have been on Kickstarter before. So it's not like Shenmue is the first but people nag more about "the nature of Kickstarter" this time for some reason.

Imo we should keep bugging Awesome Japan to get them to put in a mention of Sony in the staff area and be transparent about their role. It will instill trust and would help journalists cover that without digging the way us fans are.

I actually just found that they're on Twitter as:

I personally thanked the writer of the Escapist article on Twitter, telling her she has no idea how much it really means to Shenmue fans that a fair article has finally been published.

Is it real ?? Not even a single mention to Shenmue, they care more about a fucking cat, and the last "shootout" they did was for a manga and a card kickstarter that failed.

I have to say again, what the fuck are these guys ?? Their best kickstarter campaign was of 60k, they have various failed ones and most are less than that. WTF, how did they manage to get this high profile game ???

I'm a little pissed off.

Why can't we emphasize that there is also a PC version? Surely that should put some of the more biased Microsoft fans at rest. How many PS3/PS4 "exclusives" have also been released on the PC?

And I agree about the terrible job they have done. Why haven't they moved the stretch goals to the top of the page? People might just assume since it's well over the goal they don't need to donate anything. Not everyone will scroll to the bottom of the campaign page to look for stretch goals. Shenmue deserves better and I'm afraid it's too late. Nonetheless, I am thrilled it's been funded and wish people would recognize that it's done incredibly well in its first week.

Yes it is the same Awesome Japan. The Kickstarter isn't over, they can still make up for it, but I wish there was a way for the fanbase to get directly in touch with them.

Wow, just looked at their Twitter...

That is just abysmal.

51 backers and $1,606 raised for their previous Kickstarter...

Image

Were they personal friends or friends of friends of Suzuki or something? Who would pay them money following that track record?!

I know Awesome (maybe not that awesome) Japan is in charge of the Japanese language Kickstarter Page. But isn't Cedric Biscay and his Shibuya team in charge of the English language Kickstarter?

I remember the French language interview where Biscay and Yu drive around LA in a convertible and Biscay said he was in charge of the financials in that one.

Good news, when searching Shenmue 3 on google, the top results are an article explaining the $10 million, the kickstarter itself, and the escapist magazine article discussing funding. So it looks like there's no more "stop pledging" bullshit up at the top anymore.
