but they were too busy. They even knew about it for several years and consulted with Ys Net for a little while. Oh, what could've been...

To be honest, I think that Coca Cola is doing ingame ads.

Sony will put some money. Some YsNet, hopefully Shibuya Prod. ?

We will have an awesome game, if they can get with UE4 easily, i'll be pretty damn good.

We need to stop worrying about what could have been. Fact of the matter is that we've got Awesome Japan and we've got to deal with it. We've got $30 on the 3rd coming up and the final push of the kickstarter as well. I know it's slowed down to about 10k a day, which is really disheartening, but we still have 18 days to go and a potential for paypal support post-campaign. Even if it doesn't make that much more, we've raised almost double of the kickstarter's asking price. Have hope -- Suzuki won't be satisfied with a poor version of Shenmue III, he'll make it the best it can be.

Not sure I would want them to take the Kickstarter of Shenmue 3, because the co-founder of 8-4 is bitchy when it comes to Shenmue: https://twitter.com/search?q=shenmue%20 ... t&f=tweets

I recall a photo of Yu Suzuki with Ryan Payton and the co-founder of 8-4. Ryan Payton (as he has said on video and on Twitter) was the one who introduced the Kickstarter to Yu-san. Probably they were trying to negotiate about it, but 8-4 refused and just wished "good luck" (as they said in their podcast).

Two years ago, as they said in their podcast.

Maybe Yu Suzuki canned the deal and them being too busy is the way they want to look at it. Certainly would explain the resentment one feels reading those Tweets. It's hard to imagine they didn't have time for the nearly guaranteed biggest video game KS to date.

For some reason a lot of sega fanboys think Shenmue killed sega...

I'm not mad, this is a love or hate game.

But yeah, kinda mad.

One of the most revolutionary games EVER. WTF they really don't give a shit about gaming history ???

Some of those Tweets are from 2010. Even if 8-4 negotiated with Suzuki over a couple of years, it looks like Mr Ricciardi disliked Shenmue before.

Some of the guys in the podcast like it. Who cares? They do good marketing work. Anyway, just thought it was an interesting tidbit. I too am sick of the Awesome Japan bashing.

To blame Shenmue for Sega's demise is like blaming the child instead of the parent (plus ignoring close to a decade's worth of horrible business moves).

Why in the hell would anyone want that? I've been a Gaffer for a very long time and JohnTV has never had anything nice to say about the series.

It says it in the first post, but I'll post it again so I don't sound like a jerk: 1:22:00.

The people on the podcast speak positively of Shenmue. I guess John Ricciardi is the minority voice in the group because I heard nothing negative.
