Yu Suzuki's Twitter: 29/7 SIII Kick-off Meeting/Dinner

(Chapter 7 and beyond)

If the PayPal funding does get canned I doubt it'll be due to Yu having everything he needs (he wanted $11m after all) and more around these issues they had.

Yea it's possible the additional funding has been sourced but the investor(s) would be looking for a return on that investment whereas the only return the fans would expect are the rewards they pledge for.

Either way there really should be an update- even if it's to say theres no update!

...They've had their tiramisu. Now it's time for an update.

Maybe they already had all of the money they needed from investors from the very start and the Kickstarter campaign was just to buy the world's most expensive tiramisu for motivation.

And the entire S3 budget was spent on that feast. That's some damn expensive Toro.

I agree, it would be criminal not to bring him back. I'm sure Yu will if the guy's still out there doing his thing.

As for Paypal, I'm struggling to work out why you guys are in such a hurry for it. There's two and a half years of development ahead. Paypal could be introduced at any point, realistically, over the next 6 months while initial pre-production work is ongoing. They have around $4-5m from the KS (minus prize tiers and KS fees) plus other backing that we aren't even aware of yet. Chill.

Could't agree more I liked Ren Japanese voice so much that when I played Shenmue 2X I just couldnt get used to Rens English voice.

It’s not hard to understand: it was to keep the momentum going, since it was unlikely Shenmue 3 would ever reach that same level of popularity again. Of course…this doesn’t apply anymore, since, for whatever reason, Paypal wasn’t up in time. Now, the wave has settled, and it's essentially as you said. Which sucks.

Ren's English voice is one of the best of the series, hands down.

Oh wait...I forgot you can't like any of the English dub in IIx. Whoops!

Still. Can't. Believe. This. Is. Happening.

It's been over a month now and I still can't believe this.

From meeting and dinner to putting up our wish plaques in a shrine (Shenmue HD anyone?).

Maybe Yu sold all his other shirts to raise money for Shenmue 3?

Or maybe he chooses to wear a black and white "jail" shirt to symbolize not being free to make Shenmue 3 until now!

Or maybe he's trying to blend in with his French co-producer:
