If you observe carefully this particular sketch that Shenhua is holding Ryo's hand it looks like he hurted his left foot.

That's not necessarily true, he looks off balance to me because Shenhua is so sure footed and determined to go somewhere.

If you look closely to Ryo's left foot it shows like a stain on his pants. I'm convinced that Ryo is injured.

She might be trying to make him hurry, or she might be leading the way, or he is scared of something, or he doesn't want to go that way... so many things that it could be lol What I am trying to say, is that it is too broad a picture to tell what is going on at the moment.

Super cool sketch though! Today has been such an amazing day! These images and videos are perfect, and capture the feeling that Shenmue portrayed to me as a kid. I couldn't be more happy if I tried! Thanks to everyone who posted everything this morning for everyone to see!

Man, these new images are fantastic! The one of the house interior, in particular, has a very Shenmue look to it; that dirty, worn-in, decaying look that was so prevalent in many of the interiors of Shenmue II. They've managed to recapture it perfectly.

Unreal Engine 4 is truly a beast of an engine!

There's a black mark on the left side of the bottom of Ryo's shirt. That's a shadow. Or maybe it's a robot spy tracker that Lan Di planted on him during their confrontation in the dojo and Ryo, never having showered since, never found it?! After all, it's pretty easy to make minute conclusions from rough sketches.

Yeah we're stretching here.

It basically illustrates how Shenhua is comfortable and confident around nature while Ryo (one-a dem superior-summabitch city boys) has a harder time navigating the terrain.

We see this in Shenmue 2 when Shenhua easy runs through the forrest while Ryo just barely makes it though unscathed IF the player performs all the QTEs correctly.

Are people seriously arguing about the shading on Ryo's jeans? We could be discussing when, where and how Ziming is going to show up; who (if anyone) is going to be killed; whether Ryo and Lan Di will meet face-to-face; if we're going to meet the leader of the Chi You Men... but people are arguing about some shading from a piece of concept artwork. Seriously?

(It's definitely a shadow, by the way. Just accept it.)

It's because he has a boner from looking at shenhua, that's why he can't walk properly.
