Shenmue 3 & E3 2017 - UPDATE - Confirmed will NOT be at E3

Shit, hadn't realised it had already been 2 years. It would be a little odd if we didn't hear anything from SONY about it at this point.

If I had to bet my money on it, I'd say there will be no mention at E3. No Shenmue 3 and no HD Remasters (it's Sega, you know...).

Of course, I'll be pleased to eat my words if it happens

If they are to release S3 this year, they should start promoting it at E3. Tokio game show celebrates in last days of september so I think this leaves not enough time to promote it as it deserves.

Besides, E3 is the most important event so this will reach more people.

I'm sure that If they show a trailer with a few battle scenes and some views of the countryside with Ryo and Shenhua that'll be enough to reach and surpass 7 million to pay more testers and launch the game in december.

TGS doesn't get nearly as much attention as it used to, so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets skipped regardless of whether Shenmue III shows at E3 or not.

Nothing newsworthy, just one of the few articles which name-drops Shenmue 3 in regards to the announcement of Sonys E3 schedule. No one else seems to even talk about Shenmue 3 when it comes to Sony related articles concerning this year.

Logic tells me that it should be normal to see a trailer at this E3, considering the game has been in development for 2 years...but, considering we haven't seen any "substantial" update so far i'll play it safe and have no expectations for the show.

If anything, I'd say that the fact that we've been kept in the dark for a while now is a good indication that we'll see something.

We've been told that the game is still set to release this year. I reckon they're playing their cards very close to their chest so that they can wow us with a big trailer that blows away anything we've seen already. E3 would be the perfect time to drop something like that.

Just look at the PSX plans. They ditched out on what they told Peter & co was a sure thing. Over six months later, you'd think they'd have resolved whatever issue was giving them cold feet.

Not only that but they don't seem to have shown basically anything from the trailer they saw (bar the temple gate from the December update), and that was cut together in June 2016. It's not even conjecture or speculation at this point; there is a tremendous amount we know they've worked on that they haven't shown us yet.

The size and scope of the Kickstarter updates are basically irrelevant in the face of all this.

Haha. Sorry for invoking you so much Peter, but the things you've been told and the things you've seen are probably our best case for evidence that something may be coming down the pipeline, and probably soon too.

Of course, anything could happen. If they dramatically and publicly deviate from the December launch window this month or at the start of the next, then I could see a reintroduction to Shenmue III being kicked down the road to PSX 2017 or later depending on where the new launch window lands.

Here is a thought--

It is possible the game could NOT be shown on stage, maybe the trailer will be released prior to E3 on the Kickstarter page? Maybe due to less Indie presence?

Or do we all feel that Sony HAS to show it on stage, as part of their marketing deal?
