Shenhua needs work, but Ryo is on-model again and basically 2017 version of the original DC model.

The new logo is intriguing, given the recent logo announcement.

Also liked this second piece of art from the release.

I'm done with debating about models. I'm more interested in the environments, I honestly cannot wait to get to Choubu!!!

Wow!! I'm VERY impressed with the environments! This looks like an AAA place's title for me, beautiful as fuck! I'm already dreaming about visiting those places spending uncountables hours watching every place of Shenmue 3!

About Ryo and Shenhua, I have contradictory feelings, I think I'll get used to them but Shenhua doesn't look like the old one and Ryo resembles much more to the old model although I don't like his hair and...eyes? I think they have occidentalized them a lot!

Ryo doesn't look bad, but Shenhua needs a lot of work :/

Environments look great, nice surprise with The Great Wall (or something Great Wall-esque).

Oh God, if this is how the characters will end up looking, then I'm really going to need a lot of time to get used to it...
They look so plastic-like, like action figures...
I do find it odd that they are revealing the new models in a press-release regarding a publishing partnership... Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to save it for Gamescom? Maybe, in Gamescom, we'll be seeing updated models, more recent than these ones.
Still, I'll wait until I see them in-game, and in motion, till I pass judgement.

Having said, the environments are looking absolutely wonderful. That's obviously Choubu there and is that the Great Wall of China? Because that's pretty damn far from Guilin...It could be some other ancient wall.

EDIT: Also, didn't Ysnet say they'd be going back to the old logo? This makes me think that this promotional material is a few months old, which also gives me hope that we'll see better character models at Gamescom. Or not...

Great find, Peter/Switch.

I LOVE the colour palette - it's very (prepare for missiles to be thrown)... Yakuza. But I love it!

The new Ryo model is acceptable. As others have said, Shenhua needs some work. She just looks lifeless; like a doll. Plenty of time to sort her out, though.

Another new logo? I quite like it, but what's the deal with it? Are we having the original or a brand new design?

Really excited for gamescom, now. Can't wait!

Environments look awesome!

I think if they were to use the original CG Ryo and Shenhua models (like in the Dojo banner), it might be quite difficult to get all the expressions they'd want to convey, but nevertheless it's much better than before :)

Also seeing how the logo's different, I wonder if the models might also be not the final ones either...

Despite Shenhua not looking quite right I'm seeing more of the character in the new model than E3 2015. Seems like they've gone more towards how some of the CG art for the original games looked with fairly dainty features.

Ryo is getting there. Just need to fix the hair and the face slightly. Shenhua looks like a npc. We're getting there though and we're still a long way from release. Lets see how it plays out in motion.

The environments are amazing and i think at this point, we have a thousand different logos lol.

Cant wait for next week.

My initial reaction to the models was "yikes!", but I guess once we see them in motion with voice acting I think we shall feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Pasting this from the Deep Silver partnership announcement thread as it's more pertinent to this one:

ShenGCH wrote:In my opinion, these are the changes that need to be made to make Ryo's new model as true to the original as possible:

- Give the hair a more gelled, sturdy appearance, as opposed to one that looks as if it's being blown by the wind
- Widen the bridge of the nose a smidgen
- Lessen the bags under his eyes
- Darken the plaster (or band-aid) so it isn't so close to the colour of his skin
- Narrower, smaller lips (with particular emphasis on the top lip)
- Narrower head, more defined jawbone, and a flatter chin

Apart from those things, they've nailed it, right down to his hairline and the size of his forehead.

And yeah, Shenhua looks very generic and wouldn't stand out in a crowd at all.
