Why would Sammy want to "Destroy" Sega? I'm confused do they want to merge or something? Sorry I'm not too up to date on the story.

When we say "Destroy Sega" we mean that Sammy wants Sega to focus on arcade games, using cheap arcade hardware, and keep little focus on home console games.

This means Sega would stop devolpement of Model 4 or Naomi 3, and no Chihiro arcade boards (currently the most powerful) to make amazing-looking games.

Some of those franchises I mentioned might be revived as arcade games, but again they won't be ground-breaking, just average looking and lacking depth since arcade games are meant to last only a few minutes.

Lastly, it would probably mean the end of Sega RPGs. No Phantasy Stars, no Skies of Arcadia, no new adventure games. That's pretty much destroying Sega.

And to answer your question, they haven't merged yet, but Sammy owns about 25% of Sega in shares of stock. So they have a lot of control over what they do now.

HAHA, dont worry, sammy wont do shit. Sammy own 22% of shares, they dont run the company, they get to go to the annual meetings and have their say, i do A level accounting ;) . People are getting worried. There's no way sega will go out of home computer games cos sammy says so. Besides when sega have money you do know they can by those shares back if they want. This merger, yes thats right, MERGER, not take over is financially beneficaial for both companies, Sammy wont destroy anything .

If Sammy does destroy Sega, what would become of Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, and other Sega classics? I wouldn't want to see them disappear all of a sudden.
