As I was recording, I remember thinking to myself “This character voice is terrible. If I were playing this game and heard this voice, I’d turn off the sound.”
Finally, it was over.
I learned never to accept any game voice job again, no matter the assurances of the agent.
I was not surprised at all when the the majority of reviews of Shenmue II were posted, the writers pointed out the horrible English voice acting.

Welcome to Shenmue Dojo btw

Sonikku wrote: Welcome Hiro. YuYu Hakusho fan? Anyway, to answer your question I would say Dreamcast. The game is in it's native language which is far more immersive. The voice acting in the dub is simply terrible. Japan in general tends to have better voice acting than the states, but Shenmue truly had a top tier Japanese cast in particular and it shows. It's also prettier on the eyes in my opinion. Shenmue 2 xbox just doesn't look as good in 480p over component as the Dreamcast variant does over VGA Mode over the adapter. If you do get it for xbox, try to avoid playing it through the 360. I tried it last year and it was fairly buggy.

Ya i will definately play the first Shenmue first. And i allready have a bootdisc so im good to go for number 2Lan Di-sama wrote: The Dreamcast version is far more authentic, mostly due to the voice overs. But, the Xbox version has a bit of a "glowy" effect that detracts from the visuals somewhat. I do think the faster loading time and lack of any slowdown makes up for that, but overall I'd still say go with the Dreamcast version if you can find a copy for a fair price. If it's a matter of saving 40 or 50 bucks, I'd chance the bugginess of playing the xbox game on the 360, though I've never done so myself and can't offer any insight on how bad the bugs are.
Also, keep in mind if you are not playing the UK version on a PAL Dreamcast, you will need a boot disc or some other method of starting the game. Fairly simple, though.
In the mean time......Play Shenmue!! Then you can decide which version of the 2nd game you want.
