Which Version of Shenmue 2 is better?

Hi i am new here and i don't know if this post specificly belongs here but i have never played Shenmue or Shenmue 2 and i plan on buying both of them soon.I was wondering regarding Shenmue 2 which version is better?I heard that the uk dreamcast version would be best if buying the dreamcast version.But yet the xbox version is alittle cheaper too buy. i was wondering if someone could give me some details on which the better version is?

Depends on what you prefer.

There are a few differences between the 2,the major one is of course the english and japanese voice acting.I prefer the dc version for that reason alone.

My personal preference is the Xbox version. Whilst, yes, you can import your save file if you go the Dreamcast route, the Xbox version has the English dub. You also don't have to constantly swap discs. And it's cheaper. And you can play it on a 360. The majority of peeps on here will tell you to get it on the Dreamcast though coz it's Japanese language + English subtitles. So be warned, anyone on here but me tends to get down with the syndrome.

for sure go with Xbox. load times are a HELL of a lot less. im talkin 8 seconds compared to about 25 seconds on dreamcast. graphics are at a higher resolution, and theres little to no slow down unlike the DC version. i wouldnt play it on a 360 tho. never seen it for myself , but supposedly its glithchy as crap on 360 so stick to the original xbox. not to mention the snapshot feature on the xbox version thats not on DC version.

EDIT: and im with mittens here. prefer the english dub. yeah the voice acting sucks ass but thats what makes it Shenmue.

Xbox version plays best.Many places on the dc cause lag because of the number of npcs on the screen,don't remember having that problem on the xbox.Play it on the original xbox if you have one,had numerous problems on 360.

As I was recording, I remember thinking to myself “This character voice is terrible. If I were playing this game and heard this voice, I’d turn off the sound.”

Finally, it was over.

I learned never to accept any game voice job again, no matter the assurances of the agent.

I was not surprised at all when the the majority of reviews of Shenmue II were posted, the writers pointed out the horrible English voice acting.

As the source was anonymous we'll never know if it's a true account or not, given how bad those voices actually are I think it's definitely possible that this was exactly what happened.

Yeah, that's something with playing it on the 360. You'll either encounter plenty of bugs, or the odd warped model. Luckily, I only ever had it happen to me once, but regardless, the Xbox version performs the best.

Welcome Hiro. YuYu Hakusho fan? Anyway, to answer your question I would say Dreamcast. The game is in it's native language which is far more immersive. The voice acting in the dub is simply terrible. Japan in general tends to have better voice acting than the states, but Shenmue truly had a top tier Japanese cast in particular and it shows. It's also prettier on the eyes in my opinion. Shenmue 2 xbox just doesn't look as good in 480p over component as the Dreamcast variant does over VGA Mode over the adapter. If you do get it for xbox, try to avoid playing it through the 360. I tried it last year and it was fairly buggy.

Thank you and yes im a Yu Yu Hakusho fan lol.I am starting to reconsider now because i don't have an original xbox i have a 360 And i looked into what all you guys said and so far everywhere i look it says the game is buggy on 360.So i am probally just gonna break down and buy the Dreamcast version

Ya i will definately play the first Shenmue first.And i allready have a bootdisc so im good to go for number 2
