But for many of the games that was the case anyway Since they were only in one language. Most of my dreamcast games in france were only in French, only a few allowed to change the language.

Also the instructions on the case were also only in french.

I'm pretty sure a centralized European office only started halfway through the 128bit generation. I think up to then all big countries had an office taking care of printing, advertising and distribution (possibly taking over smaller neighbour countries), which would explain SEGA's (for instance) country-specific advertisement, games that came out in one country but not in others, and the aforementioned all-french, or all-german language games and instructions.
The UK offices were probably the smoothest operators since they could just put out the american versions (or was language corrected for british grammar? )

^I guess sega printing manuals with all the European languages in them is just one of their many counterproductive decisions then.

^I'm not sure it was just SEGA. Perhaps that bit of bother might explain why Europe always got games last, if at all in some cases, and not just to do with a theoretically smaller and more culturally diverse market.

^ I don't remember any other companies doing the same, then again it was so long ago that I may be mistaken. However my French Final Fantasy VIII's manual is only in French also I remember dreamcast manuals being much bigger than the competition's so I assume they were the only ones doing it.

I don't know about other consoles because I was all-SEGA back then, but it was certainly the case on computer games. Particularly at that time of the big cardboard computer game boxes, it was just packed with manuals.

I have recently discovered the absolute, glorious batshit insanity that is Dynamite Cop and am enjoying it immensely.

I remember playing the original Die Hard Arcade but had no idea the game had a sequel.

If you like Dynamite Cop you should definately check out Zombie Revenge. It's quite similar but set in the House of the Dead universe. Punching and shooting Zombies and other monsters makes the whole gameplay even more fun.
