So, usually we shouldn't care much about the console wars or any kind of console partisanship. But - it really looks like Sony did do everything they could to make Shenmue 3 a reality, and as ethically as possible, too.
I sincerely thank Adam Boyes for all his painstaking meetings held with Suzuki in secrecy - when he tweeted 'Rome wasn't built in a day,' a year ago, I do feel a real emotional satisfaction at knowing that Boyes was in fact hinting at the truth and was doing everything he could validly do in his capacity as an employee at Sony to make all this a reality.
Moreover, I also sincerely agree that Sony could have never gotten away with outright buying Shenmue 3 as a Sony first party project - it is after all, an IP owned by Sega, and directly, Yu Suzuki's most personal creative work. That Shenmue 3 is now the direct responsibility of Suzuki and his personal development team of choice and will be published directly by Suzuki with no external backer constantly checking over Suzuki's shoulder and decisions must have been the only way Yu wanted it.
Although one always hopes that Sony will continue to provide professional and ethical support in such a capacity that will see both Shenmue 3 *and* 4 be the necessary succeeses that will finally conclude the Saga competently and satisfactorily.
