I really do hope they make it for PSX.

It makes a huge promotional difference (just look at how many people are unaware of the KS updates or sadly even the MAGIC) and would certainly be of a big help for both Slacker Backer & #SaveShenmueHD campaigns.

As a Shenmue fan, I don't care if we get a trailer at the PSX, during a KS update or at Magic 2017.
As far as I know they are working hard and with all the necessary serenity on Shenmue 3, I'm happy.

It's really from the promotional point of view that PSX would be perfect...

Mm.

It's very disheartening to know some people think Shenmue III has gone full vaporware because it didn't make it to E3 this year. I remember arguing with some chucklehead on Twitter because they thought "they should have at least thanked backers", when that was the KS update right after funding completed.

I'm personally getting a little impatient to see the game properly, but I do know that it needs to make a very good impression to change the tone of the conversation around Shenmue III, so the more complete the game looks the better; and of course that takes time to get there.

Backers might go a bit mutinous if something juicy doesn't drop next month. It seemed like the Halloween update was approaching the tipping point, haha. I think YSnet and Cedric are all well aware of it, though.

I agree about how sad it is that some people consider a project vaporware "only" because it doesn't show up at big events. I don't think the best games in the end are always those showed the most during events like E3, TGS or PSX.

Of course showing some substantial update to the backers and the general public is becoming a necessity for obvious reasons, but most of the fans who visit the Dojo on a daily basis know how hard Yu Suzuki and his team are working to deliver the best Shenmue experience possible. Not to mention the comments of Peter and LanDC about the backer dinner.

All this is unfortunately one of the downsides of a crowdfunded project and maybe one of my personal main worries about Shenmue 3 (I mean, to much pressure from the medias, the fans, the backers, etc...).

It doesn't seem like they're bowing to any outside pressure just yet. Yu is content to do his best, his own way.

Although he promised a fairly open development process, I'm glad they've opted for something more insular instead to stop the project being pulled in too many directions. I'm sure some backers have caught onto this, but I don't think anybody has got their pants in a twist about it (yet).

We kind of went through it a page back, though now with the added context from Cedric that they're running up against a deadline of some kind, it just solidifies the developer list as neither a smoking gun for or against.

December 3rd is going to be interesting. Hopefully they use the November update to tease the trailer if it really is coming to PSX, but they probably want to keep it a total surprise.

Also, Shenmue III appears to be going through their Third Party Productions team which is based in the US, not Japan, so Shenmue III in theory should be published on disk on PS4 by their division. I think they're just called straight up SIE.

The Tweetathon is going to be intense if the trailer does drop on December 3rd.

Personally I do not want Shenmue III to be shown at PSX or anytime soon. It will just bring out the people that hate it at the same time it is actually still too early.

Show us near the demo release please!

It's not too early, I think the time is just right.
People were very impressed with the progress they saw at the Yu Suzuki dinner, and by the time PSX comes it would 6 months old. Considering how fast the team has been progressing, they must have accomplished a lot in those 6 months.

I would agree with you, if it wasn't for the testimony of the Japan KS dinner backers about the video they saw. Given the video was cut in June too, a proper reveal six months later in December does not seem too early anymore, personally.

Beautiful day in @marseille , let's talk about the @ShibuyaProd projects and @MagicMonaco line up today at 17:00 (French time)

Already asked him if Shenmue III will be present. No answer yet, but even at the least it'll get a mention I suspect.

What makes you think Yu Suzuki wants to show Shenmue III now and not near demo release since that awful media coverage and he is well aware of the Internet today where everyone can look into it and give their opinion. Yu is being tactical about this. He obviously does not want to show anything too productive from what they've done so far. Can't blame him.

Yu pretty casually showed a Famitsu reporter new Shenmue III screens on his phone, plus apparently showed a little more than he should have to the KS dinner backers. Yu seems eager to show the game off, but obviously knows that the optics have to be right before he does so in a big way. If Cedric says they have a plan to show in December, it's safe to say it's Yu-approved.

Anyway, Cedric's reply to my tweet:

I will talk about our projects including Shenmue 3 but I will not disclose any new images or info.

Just in case anybody got their hopes up.

Three more Saturdays until PSX, though!
