I find it amazing how they could made such a bland game with so much things going on for it, every location/city is probably some of the most beautiful this generation, but you half the game you are on a car/train or in the middle of nowhere killing monsters. I was pissed off when I finally reached Altissia, and all you do is have a fucking boss fight and look at a wedding dress (really WTF). It's probably the most beautiful thing I've seen in videogames all my life, but everything feels lifeless (and most of the quests are "ok kill that monster" straight up, 0 story or anything).
They could had this interesting story about a fallen king and a prince trying to regain the throne and ends up being a boytrip.
They tried to had this relationship of "man up and step up already!" but nothing in the plot makes Noctis act like such a bitch to demand it.
They could had this story about love/reuniting kingdoms or whatever, but we are in the middle of getting married to a childhood friend (that most of the game you think it's more of an arranged thing, but then apparently they loved each other or whatever).
The combat is another weird thing, there are a couple of instances I really felt like SSJ goku flying around doing cool stuff, but half of the game was "WTF I'm doing/why the camera likes to look so much at the ground". It has so many animations, it flows quite OK, but it just doesn't ends adding up.
The most hilarious thing is that they did a 30 hours game, a movie and an anime, and the story is still full of holes and quite stale. And apparently (looking at YT videos) the story was quite well thought, but NOTHING really reflects that, even with all that media you have to scrap little things and nods from here and there (even loading screens) to have a Theory of the backstory.
I really think that if this game was just "go get revenge for your father" it would have been a lot more appealing. This is one of those things that each part is great, but when adding up, ends up being less.
