*Mods: I want this to stay in General Discussion if you don’t mind, cause I want lots of people to see it! Thanks*
Here’s the list, with my personal comments for each one. If sappy nostalgia bothers you, skip my ranting ;) BTW, I want people to discuss these if they feel like it. Argue, or whatever. Debate!!!
Here we go!!!
25. Virtua Fighter 2 (Saturn/Arcade)
–This is a sentimental favorite of mine. I remember being a little kid back in the arcades in the mid-90’s, playing this for hours on end! Later I bought it for my Saturn, which was actually an awesome conversion considering the hardware limitations.
24. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
-OH MAN!! I love this game. Thanks to everyone who voted for this. I personally think the Chrono games are the most underappreciated console RPG’s around
23. Final Fantasy VIII (PS)
-Good choice, although it was a shame to see FFVI not make the top 25
22. Resident Evil CODE: Veronica (DC/PS2)
-Classic, classic, classic. Introduced realtime 3D graphics to the RE franchise and revealed so much back story. I love it.
21. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS/DC/PC)
-Nemesis terrified me. One word- “STARRRRRSSSS!!!”
20. Street Fighter 2 (Arcade/Genesis/MD/SNES)
-People voted for all the incarnations of SF2: Turbo, SCE, etc. In the end I counted ‘em as one game because it definitely deserves a spot here, and they all have one thing in common: the same awesome gameplay.
19. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox/PC)
-Easily, hands down, the best Star Wars game ever. All I need to say.
18. Jet Set Radio (DC)
-Sega cult classic. It’s games like this that make us love Sega.
17. Skies of Arcadia (DC/GC)
-Awesome RPG, one of the 2 or 3 best Dreamcast RPG’s. Made by members of the original Phantasy Star team. They know their RPGs.
16. Super Mario World (SNES)-Introduced Mario to the 16-bit universe. Love it.
15. Tetris (Most Consoles)
-What can you say about Tetris? The one game that EVERYONE on earth has played. Ask anyone you meet, I guarantee you 9 out of 10 have played Tetris.
14. Deus Ex (PC) -This one is close to my heart. My second favorite game of all time. If you haven’t played it, give it a shot.
tie 12. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis/MD)
-Best Sonic game ever, IMO. Introduced Tails and the spin dash. ‘Nuff said.
tie 12. Resident Evil (PS/Saturn/GC)-So revolutionary. Began one of the most popular franchises of all time. I cannot express in words my love for this game, so I won’t try ;)
11. Super Mario 64 (N64)
-Oh man!!! I remember being in 7th grade back in 1996 when this game debuted. The freedom of movement was just amazing to me. The gameplay holds up to this day, and the graphics are still beautiful.
10. Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2/XBox/PC)
-Amazing game. Quite simply an awesome experience, one that every gamer should have before they die. Complete freedom in a beautiful city.
09. Resident Evil 2 (PS/DC/PC)-What’s more fun than solving puzzles in the Raccoon City Police Department? Possibly the scariest RE game.
08. Sonic Adventure (DC)-Introduced Sonic to true 3D. Launched the Dreamcast. Nearly saved Sega. An amazing game, one I’ll never forget.
07. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
-Created a legend. Period.
06. Halo (Xbox/PC/Mac)
-The first must-buy Xbox game. If you own an Xbox and don’t have this game, kill yourself. Just kidding, but you should really get it ;)
05. Goldeneye (N64)
-Five words: BEST CONSOLE MULTIPLAYER MODE EVER!
04. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
-I don’t know anyone born in the 80’s who can’t hum the theme of the first level of this game. This game is the common ground for everyone in our generation.
03. Final Fantasy VII (PS)
-Brought Final Fantasy to a mass audience in awesome fashion. Sephiroth is the baddest bad guy ever (aside from Lan Di, hehe)
02. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (N64)
-No words. No words.
And Number 1 is…………………………………
Shenmue 1/2 (DC/XBox)
Come on, were you really surprised? Not only did the Shenmue series receive all but, I believe, 2 first place votes, it received more than double the points of the second place game. Shocker, eh? lol
